Historically Incorrect Canooding

In the article Historically Canoodling by Stephanie Coontz is mainly about the up comings of Valentines Day. Valentine's day started by the Roman Catholic Church as a limit on sexual passion. "For thousands of years, love passion and marriage were considered a rare and usually undesirable combination." Valentines day is a day is a day to  show how much you care for your lover to me. In the article it says  today everyone wants so much more they want to find someone that's going to  be their best friend  their lover and someone that you will marry in the future. I don't think that's true, Now a days nobody really seems to think about  long term relationships or getting married.  Marriage rates has drastically declined since back in the day, people are having more kids than they are getting married. I think marriage is some what a waste of time, but if I do get married I would want it to be someone who's going to be my best friend and I can tell everything to. But Valentine's Day doesn't seem as special anymore. How do you think Valentines day has changed? do you think Valentines day is more special or less special?

  1. You make some good points at the end, but the summary and detail sections are not very strong. You also need to explain more why you don't agree with Coontz about marriage. 75
